Callie's First Road Trip Day 2 & 3

Day 2
Callie slept a good 6 hours, which was surprising given how much she slept in the car on the way down to San Diego. We took it easy in the morning and hooked up the Wii to show to Bill's parents. I even got a few exercises in:) For lunch we went to Brett's BBQ which was quite delicious! Callie did fairly well, and when she fussed Grandma Ann took her for a stroll through the restaurant. We came back and just relaxed. We hung out on the deck and opened a nice bottle of wine and I played with Callie on the carpet. She was all smiles, squeaks and giggles.

Day 3
Callie slept fairly well again. She woke up around 6:30am when I fed her, then she went back down again until about 9. We were all hanging out in the living room when we heard some interesting noises coming from Miss C's diaper. And boy did we have a surprise! Our first explosion. And she didn't stop while she was being changed. Pooping everywhere! So into the bath we went. After all that excitement died down we planned to hit up Bill's old place of employment.
We went to breakfast at Bread and Cie.

Then we took Callie sailing for the first time. The poor thing was not a huge fan of the life jacket and I think you can see why!

After she screamed for a bit she passed out. She woke up pretty cranky on the boat but once I got some food in her she was a happy camper.

Video of Callie sucking on her life vest:)

Enjoying a quiet moment

We stopped by Phil's BBQ (to compare to Brett's of course!) and went back home. We all agreed that Brett's was much better.

After dinner we just hung around and relaxed.

Callie's Favorite New Item

This is Callie's favorite new item. She just loves it! She loves to move around so its been perfect. I can get a good 10 minutes of freedom on a good day:)

Callie's First Road Trip Day 1

So we did our first looooong drive with Callie yesterday. We drove down to San Diego for our yearly pilgrimage to Comic Con. Luckily we gave ourselves lots of time and no pressure on when to arrive. She was a real trooper. We only had to stop a couple of times. But the poor thing definitely got tired of her car seat. She just needed more breaks than to just feed. At one point she was wailing because she was hungry and of course the turn off we took from the freeway had like nothing around it for us to stop at. I got so desperate because she was so upset, that I leaned as far forward as I could with my seatbelt still around my waist and leaned her head forward and did some super stretch breastfeeding until I yelled at Bill to turn left and we fed right where we stopped. Of course we ran into lots of traffic and 2 really gnarly looking accidents, but all in all it went well. Our total trip took a bit over 12 hours.

I just couldn't resist snapping this picture while she slept...Luckily the flash didn't wake her:)

The Scene Stealer

So Callie and I have started going to Music Together classes at the campbell community center. Its obviously more for me than her at this point but she seems to be having fun. Today she totally stole the show. We were going around the circle and each mom/baby pair had a drum. At the specified time the baby was supposed to have a kind of drum solo. It was time for the first baby to bang their drum (as best as their little hands can do) and here comes Callie, our little soloist with a high pitched: " Ahhhhhh!" It was hysterical!
Today was also the first time she could grip the instruments. Last week she would just hold it for a second and then drop it.

Callie and Jack

So Milo still really doesn't want much to do with Callie. He avoids her most of the time. His buddy Jack on the other hand can't get enough of her! He was licking her all over! Her feet, her hands, her face you name it!

Callie Meets the Chicks

My mom recently got 3 chicks (soon to be hens): Hattie, Rosie and Gladys. Callie got her first introduction to them over the weekend.

Our Little TV Addict

If there is a tv on in the room where Callie is, odds are she will crane her neck to watch it. Just like her mama!
